Frequently Asked Questions

How fit do I need to be?

You should have a moderate level of fitness and be prepared to ski for around five hours per day. Whilst on the expedition, we will be entirely self sufficient and required to pull our own equipment in a pulk. Cross country skiing can be demanding in terms of endurance, but the workshop is deliberately designed for those with no prior experience of this type of exercise. If you need fitness support or advice to prepare for the expedition, we will be happy to point you in the direction of experts who can help.

Do I need to be able to ski?

Whilst it's definitely an advantage, you don't need to have any skiing experience to come on this adventure! Tuition and guidance will be provided by our partners Arctic Training & Expeditions. Please note that touring boots are quite rigid, so it is worth spending time in hiking boots or similar prior to the expedition to get your feet used to harder boots.

Is it dangerous?

Any outdoor adventure, particularly in extreme conditions comes with an element of risk. However, our partners at Arctic Training & Expeditions are highly experienced and will be monitoring weather conditions and group capability at all times to ensure the appropriate level of challenge and, most importantly, ensure that you have fun!

Will I be cold?

We will provide you with a full kit list and the opportunity to hire all the equipment you need to stay safe and warm whilst on the expedition. You will receive guidance on how to dress for skiing/ resting and some tips and tricks for how to make the experience as comfortable as possible! Our partners at Arctic Training and Expeditions will be keeping a close eye on the group at all times to ensure everyone stays safe, warm and healthy throughout the experience.

How do I go to the toilet?

This is one of the questions that we get asked most frequently! We will be in the Scandanavian backcountry and there will be no access to toilets I am afraid.  However, you will be taught the principles of expedition hygiene as part of the workshop and a full kit list will be provided. So be prepared for a wild camping experience, but know that there will be plenty of people with experience who can help to answer your questions as we go!

Is this adventure open to everyone?

There is a maximum of 7 places on the expedition and all accommodation (tents and lodges) will be shared, so we need to ensure that the group is balanced to accommodate this. All shared accommodation will be same sex, unless specifically requested (for example partners sharing).

How do I pay?

A deposit of £200 GBP will be required to reserve your place. Full payment will be required 90 days prior to the adventure. Payment plans are available - please contact Nicki to discuss directly.

We are so excited to offer this experience of a lifetime and can't wait for you to join us. To book your place or find out further information, please contact nicki@resiliencework.co.uk
